EASTON, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field came in 11th place as a team at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday. The Blue competed against Division I, II and III competition and earned 25 total points.
Senior Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) won the 3000m Steeplechase race with a season-best mark of 10:42.18. The time currently ranks 14th in the NCAA Division III this season. Classmate Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) came in third in the event, hitting the finish line at 11:24.18.
Senior Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) ran a 4:50.07 in the 1500m, capturing eighth place and one team point with the performance.
First-year Sophia Wang (Livingston, N.J.) was the seventh place finisher in the High Jump, tying a season-high height of 1.57m. Wang also came in 10th in the Triple Jump, reaching a distance of 10.41m.Â
Senior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) wrapped her career up by throwing for 34.02m in the Discus Throw and capturing 12th.
Next up, certain members of the Blue will race at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 14.
