Connecticut College Upends Wellesley Lacrosse

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Wellesley College lacrosse team fell to Connecticut College on Wednesday morning at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. The Camels upended the Blue by a score of 15-3.

The loss evens Wellesley's season mark to 3-3, while Connecticut College improves to 2-3 overall.

The Camels opened the game on a 9-0 run, outshooting Wellesley 16-6 in the first half. Conn was also aided by strong play from goalie Caitlin Cataldo, who made five saves for the Camels, not allowing a goal in the half.

After a Conn free position goal to open the second half, Wellesley broke through with an unassisted score from sophomore Claire Canty to make it 10-1. The Camels then scored five of the final seven goals of the half to set the final score to 15-3.

Wellesley's other goals came from first-years Cassidy Jemo and Chesley Hooker, while senior Meredith Roy added an assist.

Defensively for Wellesley, senior Alyssa Andres and junior Kaitlyn Kirkaldy recorded two caused turnovers each, while Andres also picked up four ground balls. Canty and Roy ended the game with three draw controls each, while in goal, junior Tori Hysko made four saves.

For Conn, Izzy Marx, Taylor Thomas and Libby Nichols each recorded hat tricks, while Thomas and Nichols also posted assists to finish the afternoon with four points.

Wellesley is back in action on Saturday, opening NEWMAC play with a 12:00pm game at home against Babson.
