NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Thirteen Wellesley student-athletes competed at the Division III New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Smith College on Saturday.
The Blue competed in two individual events, while racing in three relays.
Competing in the 5,000-meter event, Wellesley senior Molly Shanley took 11th overall in 18:14.51, while junior Camille Basurto finished 15th in 18:31.74. Senior Cailey Stevens raced in the 800-meter run, finishing in a time of 2:33.13.
The distance medley relay team recorded a top-10 finish for the Blue, as first-year Vanessa Wilkins (1200m - 4:08.44), first-year Kathleen Hanlon (400m - 64.24), first-year Nicole Chui (800m - 2:35.43) and sophomore Jane Lodwick (5:26.48), combined for a time of 13:14.59. Chui's time in the 800, marked a personal best.
Rounding out the action, Wellesley hit season best times in both the 4 x 800m and the 4 x 400m relays. In the 800, first-year Alexandra Dunn, Stevens, sophomore Skye Roberts, and Lodwick combined for an 18th place time of 10:25.24.
In the 400, sophomore Sheena Dupuy, first-year Chloe Emerson, sophomore Sarah Roundy, and Hanlon ran a 19th-place time of 4:31.03.
Wellesley track and field is back in action next weekend at the at New England Intercollegiate Championships, where runners from Divisions I, II and III will race at Boston University.
