CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wellesley College track and field team was in action this weekend, competing at MIT's Spring Invitational. In addition to the MIT meet, the Blue's Randelle Boots competed on Friday evening at Princeton's Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational.
Boots competed in the 1,500-meter race at Princeton, placing ninth in her section in a time of 4:29.05. She was the second Division-III finisher in the event, while recording the fifth best time in Division-III in the process. Boots also led the Blue in Saturday's MIT meet, winning the 800-meter race in a time of 2:15.89, qualifying her for the New England Div. III, New England Intercollegiate and ECAC Div. III Championships.
Also in the 800m at MIT, Wellesley hit three personal best times. Jane Lodwick recorded a 2:25.46 to take second in her section, while Alexandra Dunn's time of 2:27.88 put her sixth. Monica Gates ran a 2:30.90 to round out the PR's for the Blue.
Wellesley's top finisher in the 1,500m race was Cailey Stevens who took eighth in her section with a personal best time of 4:57.40. Kathleen Hanlon recorded two PR's at the meet, with a 13.21 in the 100m dash and a 27.83 in the 200m dash. Her 100m time was good for fourth place overall.
Wrapping up the track highlights, Taylor Bickford completed her first steeplechase, finishing fifth overall in 12:57.50, Doris Berman took sixth in the 5,000m (20:23.94), while the 4x400m relay team of Gates, Stevens, Hanlon and Boots.
In field action, Wellesley's Judine St. Gerard hit a personal best in the long jump (12' 6.75"), while Sarah Chen was Wellesley's top finisher with a 13' 10.5".
Wellesley track and field is back in action next weekend competing at the 2012 NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Smith College.
