Wellesley won 10 of the evening's 16 events to take home the
win. Wellesley was led by junior Dana Dutton
(Anacortes, WA) and senior Alex Stark (Moorestown,
NJ) who each picked up two wins for the Blue. Dutton won the
100-back in a time of 1:07.27 and took home the 200-back in
2:28.45. Stark was a winner in the 100-fly in 1:05.64 and
also won the 200-fly in 2:26.12.
Also for Wellesley, Melanie Kaplan (La Jolla,
CA) was a winner in the 1,000-free (11:50.08) while Savanna
Johnson (Bloomington, IN) won the 100-breast
(1:11.33). Hilary Gram (Hopkinton, MA)
picked up a win in the 200-breast (2:43.33) and Emilie
Mitten (Norwalk, CT) won the 200-free (2:06.15).
In the 200-Medley relay, the Wellesley team of Katherine
Foley (Orono, ME), Carolyn Jackson
(Leesburg, VA), Virginia Hung (Plainsboro, NJ) and
Whitney Smith (Detroit, MI) took first place in a
time of 1:58.98. The Blue also got strong individual
performances from each of the relay members, Foley finished the
200-IM in a time of 2:19.30, while also taking second in the
100-free in 59.24. Hung picked up a win in the 100-free
(57.82) and was just .19 seconds behind her teammate in the
200-free, taking 2nd in 2:06.34. Jackson took second in the
100 breast (1:12.29), while Smith took 2nd in the 50-free
(27.34).
Rounding out the meet for the Blue, Stephanie
Welch (Dedham, MA) swam a 5:40.67 in the 500-free and took
second in the 200-fly in 2:29.79, while Maia
Fitzstevens (Rochester, NY) recorded a second-place finish
in the 200-breast (2:46.69).
Wellesley is back in action at home on Tuesday, December 2nd
hosting Tufts University at 7:00pm.
