NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- First-years Rosemary O'Connor and Emma Haley each went 2-0 as the Wellesley College squash team competed at this weekend's Smith College Invitational. The Blue went 0-2 at the event, dropping hard-fought matches to William Smith and Conn. College.
In a 7-2 loss to William Smith, neither O'Connor or Haley dropped a game, as they each posted 3-0 wins. In the first spot, O'Connor was an 11-8, 11-2, 11-4 winner over Victoria Scott, while at two, Haley won 11-8, 11-7, 11-4 over Alexandra Comstock.
Wrapping up the weekend, the Blue dropped a tough 6-3 decision at the hands of Conn. College. O'Connor and Haley each posted 3-0 wins at one and two, while Cara Kaufman (pictured) was a 11-6, 12-14, 11-3, 11-6 winner in the fifth spot. At seven, Jen Hsu also had strong showing, taking her opponent to five games before eventually dropping the match.
Wellesley is back in action on Friday, hosting Northeastern in a 7:00pm match at Dana Hall.
