PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Wellesley College squash team fell short against #1 Connecticut College in the semifinals of the Howe Cup National Championship "D" Division. The fourth-seeded Blue dropped the match, 7-2.
Once again, the Blue picked up two wins at the top of the line-up. Rosemary O'Connor led the way with a 3-0 win against Laura Abrams in the number one spot, recording match scores of 11-8, 11-3, 11-9.
At two, Emma Haley (pictured) continued her solid play with a 3-0 victory over Jen Hyslip. Match scores were 11-9, 11-2, 11-6.
The Blue also got a strong match from number seven Haley Vasquez. Vasquez dropped a tight 3-1 match to Alli Hibbs, but remained within two points of her opponent in each game (13-15, 11-13, 15-12, 9-11).
Wellesley now competes for third place in the Epps Cup Division, and will take on rival and #3 seeded Smith College on Sunday at 8:30am.
