WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Wellesley College crew team continued their strong spring with a fast day on the water at Lake Quinsigamond. The Blue competed against nationally and regionally ranked crews from Divisions I and III.
In a strong varsity eight field, Wellesley took third out of six, narrowly being edged by Bates and Trinity. Bates finished in 7:01.5, Trinity in 7:02.0, while Wellesley recorded a time of 7:05.1. The Blue raced ahead of Division-I Holy Cross, as well as WPI and Rochester.
In the second varsity eight race, the Blue came in second out of six. Bates again narrowly edged Wellesley finishing in 7:20.7 compared to Wellesley's 7:25.8. The Blue did finish ahead of a strong Trinity boat, as well as Holy Cross, WPI and Rochester.
In third varsity racing, Wellesley took third. Trinity and Bates finished one and two, while Wellesley posted a time of 8:05.9, finishing ahead of WPI.
Finally, in novice racing, the Blue took second overall out of four teams. Trinity took first, ahead of Wellesley's 7:47.2, while Holy Cross and WPI finished third and fourth.
Blue Crew returns to the water on Saturday at the NEWMAC Championships hosted by WPI on Lake Quinsigamond.
