Five Earn All-New England Honors at NE Track & Field Championships

GORHAM, Maine. -- The Wellesley College track and field team placed 19th overall at the New England Division III Championships on Saturday afternoon. The event was hosted by the University of Southern Maine at the Costello Sports Complex field house.

Five Wellesley athletes earned All-New England honors at the event, as senior Randelle Boots, and the 4x800m relay team of senior Cristina Lucas, sophomore Alexandra Dunn, and first-years Alessandra Gavin and Sharon Ng finished fourth overall.

Boots placed fourth in the mile run, recording a season-best time of 4:56.58 for her All-New England honor. Her time stands as the eighth best time run in Division III to date. In the 4x800m relay, Lucas, Dunn, Gavin, and Ng combined for a time of 9:47.01, earning the team All-New England accolades, and improving their ECAC seed time by nearly 24 seconds.

Wellesley athletes also recorded four-other top-15 finishes at the event. In the 5,000m race, sophomore Vanessa Wilkins posted an ECAC and Open New England qualifying time of 18:20.16 to finish 10th, while sophomore Taylor Bickford placed 15th in 18:42.49. Ng earned a 12th-place finish in the 800m event, tallying a 2:22.25 (ECAC-qualifying time), while Lucas rounded out the individual top finishers by placing 14th in the mile in 5:10.88.

In the 4x400m relay, first-year Emma Kissane, junior Sarah Roundy, sophomore Chloe Emerson, and first-year Victoria Lee combined for a time of 4:32.68 to place 18th.
