NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Wellesley College track and field team sent five athletes to the 2013 ECAC Division III Indoor Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.
Leading the way for Wellesley was senior Cristina Lucas who earned points in the mile run and as part of the Blue's 4x800m relay team. In the mile, Lucas ranked sixth overall with a time of 5:08.26. In the 4x800m relay, the Blue's team of Lucas, first-year Alessandra Gavin, sophomore Alexandra Dunn, and first-year Sharon Ng combined for a seventh place finish out of 31 teams. Their final time, 9:39.16, was was nearly eight seconds faster than their seed time, and also marked a new school record.
Wrapping up the competition for the Blue, sophomores Vanessa Wilkins and Taylor Bickford both ran the 5,000m, while Ng competed in the 800m. Wilkins placed 12th overall in a time of 18:25.91, Bickford placed 17th in 18:59.47, and Ng ran a 2:25.72 to finish 23rd.
Wellesley will now await selections to the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, which will be held at North Central in Naperville, Illinois, March 8th and 9th.
