Colby Surges to Sweep of Blue Squash

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley Collge squash was in action on Friday evening, dropping a 9-0 final to visiting Colby College in a match played at Harvard University's Murr Center. 

The visiting Mules took six 3-0 victories on the night, sweeping the five through nine match-ups to improve to 7-5 on the season. Wellesley drops its fourth straight match and now stands at 9-6 overall.  

After dropping the first two games of her match with Julie Wolpow 5-11 and 4-11, first year Phyllis Lin rallied back to take the next two 11-9 and 11-6 in the number two match-up. However, in the deciding game, Wolpow prevailed with an 11-4 victory.  

Meera Nayar and Rhea Advani both dropped four game matches. Nayar took the first game in her match with Mikaela Johnson before dropping three straight (11-6, 4-11, 7-11, 8-11). Advani rallied after dropping the first game before eventually being defeated in four games by Colby's Tara Tischio.

The Blue have a quick turnaround, playing a pair of matches tomorrow in Maine. Wellesley will start off the day with a 12 noon matchup at Bowdoin before traveling south for a 5:00 PM contest with Bates.
