Records Fall as Blue Track & Field Competes on Day One of NEICAAA Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. --  A pair of school records fell as Wellesley College track & field had a spectacular opening day at the cross divisional 2015 NEICAAA Indoor Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.

In the 400 meter run, sophomore Isabella Narvaez continued her standout season, once again breaking her own school record with a time of 58.32.

The Blue's distance runners had a strong showing in the 5000 meter run. Senior Taylor Bickford captured the seventh fastest qualifying time with a mark of 17:33.92 as both she and sophomore Mary Keenan finished under the previous school record time. Kennan finished just behind Bickford in tenth, clocking in at 17:43.09. Junior Pryianka Fouda won her heat with a time of 18:11.24 to finish 12th overall in the event.

Junior Sharon Ng won her heat in the 1000 meter run, qualifying for tomorrow's final with the second fastest time at the championships (2:55.25). Ng's time saw her finish ahead of several competitors from Division I institutions and was the second fastest in Wellesley history, trailing All-American Leah Clement's school record mark by less than a second.

Also competing on day one was Abena Asare, as the Blue's talented first year recorded a score of 5.05m in the Long Jump.

Tomorrow's events for the Blue will include the 4 x 400m relay as well as the finals for the 1000m run.
