WELLESLEY, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2016 Sportsmanship Award Recipients this week and Wellesley track & field was awarded the women's honor. This award is voted on by the league's student-athletes following the conference championship.
During last weekend's NEWMAC Championship, the Blue also earned five NEWMAC first team All-Conference honors. A pair of Wellesley seniors earn all-conference honors at their final NEWMAC Championship, as Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.) was first in the women's 5000m and Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) captured the Women's 800m race. Junior Mary Keenan (Boerne, Texas) took home the title in the women's 1,500m, while classmate Edie Sharon (Winchester, Mass.) took first in the women's 3,000m Steeplechase. Finally, sophomore Abena Asare (Berlin, N.J.) won her second straight NEWMAC Long Jump title, with a facility record leap.
