Rameau Leads Wellesley Track and Field Through Day One of NE DIII Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Sophomore Tatenda Rameau (Syracuse, N.Y) finished 11th overall in the long jump to lead Wellesley College track and field at the New England Division III Championships at MIT on Friday afternoon.

Rameau recorded a 5.23m leap in the long jump finals. She also competed in the 100m preliminaries finishing 10th overall with 12:54 time. Finals for the 100m will take place on Saturday afternoon.

First year Shanez'e Johnson (Worcester, Mass.) and Sophomore Crystalina Guo (Montgomery, N.J.) both competed in the discus finals. Johnson finished in the 18th spot at 32.50m, while Guo finished 25th overall at 27.79m.

Junior Cathy Chen (Parsippany, N.J.) and first year Rachel Berets (Belmont, Mass.) participated in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles. Chen finished 12th overall with a 16.04 time, and Berets finished in the 15th spot at 16.58. The finals for the 100m hurdles will take place on Saturday afternoon.

Wellesley will continue at the New England Division III Championships on Saturday at MIT.
