Guo, Harrigian Lead Blue Track & Field at Lyons Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- Senior Crystalina Guo (Montgomery, N.J.) took first in the Weight Throw and classmate Fiona Harrigian (San Marino, Calif.) took first place honors in the Mile to lead Wellesley College track and field at the Lyons Invitational on Friday evening at the Haas Athletic Center.

The non-scoring meet, hosted by Wheaton College, featured the host Lyons, Wellesley, Connecticut College, University of New Haven, and WPI.

Guo captured the weight throw with a mark of 12.46m and added a fourth place finish in the Shot Put with a distance of 9.95m. Junior Abigail Parakoyi (Houston, Texas) and first year Emily Doyle (Mobile, Ala.) added PRs in the weight throw, finishing in 6th (10.58m) and 8th (10.02m), respectively. Parakoyi also added a mark of 8.65 to take eighth in the shot. 

Harrigian took first place honors in the Mile, finishing with a new PR of 5:46.08. First year Bethany Pasko (Wellesley, Mass.) finished fifth in 6:31.81.

In the 60m Dash, sophomore Arianna Sablad (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished ninth in 8.61 seconds to lead a team of three Wellesley competitors. First year Madeline Morocco (Mansfield, Mass.) followed in 13th (8.74), while junior Kayla Fong (New York, N.Y.) was 17th (9.58). 

First year Ariel Traver (Palo Alto, Calif.) finished ninth in the Long Jump with a leap of 3.88m and 6th in the Triple Jump with a mark of 9.33m. Senior Josephine Kim (Orange County, Calif.) was fifth in the triple with a mark of 9.48m. 

Back on the track, junior Samara Shaz (New York, N.Y.) paced the Blue with a solid fourth place finish and a PR in the 3,000m, running to a time of 10:51.39. Seniors Keiko Hilmo (Saint Paul, Minn.) and Taylor Mahlandt (Ephrata, Pa.) followed Shaz in 7th (10:59.77) and 9th (11:34.50). Classmate Elizabeth Wegman (East Sandwich, Mass.) was the top Blue finisher in the 1000m, taking 10th in 3:16.56. 

First years Sally Richardson (Orono, Minn.) and Kathryn Winkler (Bedford, Mass.) finished 1-2 in their heat in the 300m, leading to finishes of 13th (45.53) and 14th (45.78) overall. Classmate Dallis Kehoe (Norwell, Mass.) was third in her heat but had the fastest Blue time in the event, taking 12th in 45.24. 

Wellesley concluded the meet with a season-best time in the 4x200m Relay, with Morocco, Kehoe, Winkler, and Richardson taking 6th in 1:54.73.

The Blue return to action on Friday, January 24, at the Terrier Invitational and Saturday, January 25, at the USM Invitational.
