Track & Field Competes in Day One of the Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Wellesley track & field team competed in day one of the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday evening. 

Senior Ari Marks (Eagle Point, Ore.) ran to a second place finish in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:37.74. Cassie Kearney of Middlebury captured first place in 4:31.86.

The Blue picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the 5000 meter event. Senior Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) posted a fifth place time of 17:51.66 and junior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) clocked in at 18:05.98 to take tenth. 

Junior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) earned a top-5 finish in the women's steeplechase after running a 11:42.60. 

Two runners competed in the 10000 meter run with senior Lily Herold (Athens, Ohio) and classmate Kaylee Hill (Hingham, Mass.) running a 40:09.00 and 42:38.86 respectively.

Junior Zoe Shaw earned a 37th place finish in the discus throw with a best toss of 21.45 meters.

The Blue are back for day two of the Silfen Invitational tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM.
