Marks Captures First Place in 5K at 2022 New England DIII Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN Mass. – Wellesley track & field senior Ari Marks (Eagle Point, Ore.) placed first in the 5000 meter run to earn her second victory at the 2022 New England DIII Championships on Saturday.

Marks took home the gold with a time of 16:35.17 and bested second place finisher Erin Magill of Brandeis who clocked in at 16:58.05. Junior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) finished in ninth place in the event with a personal best time of 17:52.57.

Blue senior Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) took the runner-up in the 3000 meter steeplechase, running a 11:10.56 and set a new PR. Junior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) clocked in at 11:45.84 and finished in seventh place overall.

Running in the 400 meter dash was junior Kate Winkler (Bedford, Mass.) who finished fourth in the second heat at 1:00.27. First year Aoife Fitzgerald also placed fourth in the opening heat with a time of 1:01.43.

The Blue are set to compete at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Bryant University on Friday, May 13.
