Wellesley Track and Field Sets 4x200 Record at New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - Wellesley College track and field set a program record in the 4x200 meter relay on day one of the New England Division III Championships from the TRACK at New Balance.

Williams leads the team competition after day one with 49 points, followed by Middlebury with 31, and Tufts with 27.

The Blue's 4x200 meter relay team of first year Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.), sophomores Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) Ria Goveas (Bangalore, India) and Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) finished with a program record time of 1:49.63, good for 14th place.

Senior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) finished eighth in the 5000 meter race with a time of 17:42.63, a PR by nearly ten seconds.

The Blue will finish off the New England Division III Championships tomorrow with their first event at 12:15 PM.
