Blue Track & Field Fourth After Day One of Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Senior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) won the 10000m event for Wellesley College track & field on day one of the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Friday.

Anderson took the top spot in the 10000m race by nearly 25 seconds with a time of 36:28.96. First year Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) also competed, running a 39:29.14 to finish 12th.

Senior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) won the 3000m event steeplechase with a time of 11:17.54. First year Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) placed third in early heats of the 1500m race, running a 4:48.06.

Senior Emily Doyle (Mobile, Ala.) took tenth place in the discus throw with a distance of 33.45m, while first year Kenya Francis (Southwest Atlanta, Ga.) and sophomore Kiara Dozier (Honolulu, Hawaii) took 25th and 34th with distances of 26.97m and 22.75m.

Wellesley concludes their appearance at the Silfen Invitational tomorrow, beginning at 9:30 AM.
