Wellesley Track & Field Sits in Seventh at NEWMAC Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Wellesley College track & field is currently tied for seventh after day one of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship hosted by MIT at the Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track.

Host MIT sits in first with 82 points, trailed by Coast Guard (43), Springfield (31), WPI (12), Smith (10), Babson (8), Wellesley (4), Wheaton (4), and Mount Holyoke (1).

First year Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) earned four points for Wellesley with a fifth place finish in the 10000 meter race and a personal best time of 39:09.37.

Junior Emily Doyle (Mobile, Ala.) threw a 30.20m in the javelin event to take tenth place for the Blue and classmate Caitlin Gordon (North Vancouver, British Columbia) had PR 27.08m for 15th.

Sophomore Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) and junior Taylor Quaye (Redondo Beach, Calif.) both had personal bests with a 12.90 and 12.97 to place 13th and 14th in the 100 meter dash prelims. Sophomore Erin Dickinson (Omaha, Neb.) paced the Blue with a distance of 4.85m in the long jump to take 12th place.

Wellesley competes in day two of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship tomorrow at 10:30 AM.
