Cross Country Takes 18th at Connecticut College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. – Wellesley College cross country came in 18th out 37 at the 6k Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. The event featured stiff competition, including many of the top Division III teams in the Northeast.

Junior Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) paced the Blue with a time of 21:40.80, good for 17th out of 277 total runners. Classmate Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) cracked the top-100, claiming a time of 23:01.50 for 99th place.

Junior Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) helped the Blue with a time of 23:16.60 in 126th. Also scoring for Wellesley was junior Elise Lanahan (Greensville, S.C.) (23:46.10 - 156th) and senior Alicia Naranjo-Champion (El Monte, Calif.) (24:24.50 - 193rd).

First years Helen Yang (Los Angeles, Calif.) (24:53.60 - 215th) and Adelaide maguire (Oakland, Calif.) (24:59.00 - 221st) each competed.

Wellesley will host the annual 6k NEWMAC Championships at Nehoiden Golf Club on Saturday, November 2.
