Blue Golf Wins Hamilton Invitational; Lewis Hits an Ace

ROME, N.Y. – Wellesley College golf won on a tiebreaker over Amherst College to claim the Hamilton Invitational title at the Par 72 Rome Country Club on Sunday.

Both the Blue (308-314) and the Mammoths (318-304) shot a 622 for the weekend. Wellesley's fifth scorer had a lower score than Amherst' fifth, giving the Blue the team victory. Hamilton (623), Babson (624) and Williams (624) rounded out the top five.

Sophomore Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) became the fourth student-athlete in Blue golf history to hit a hole-in-one. Lewis aced the 14th hole, an 115 yard Par 3. 

Classmate Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) tied for the win among all individuals with a score of 151 (76-75). First year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) also had a top ten finish, tying for seventh with a score of 155 (74-81).

Sophomore Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) carded a 158 (78-80) for 18th. Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) had a 161 (80-81) and Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) shot 164 (86-78) for the weekend.

Lewis ended with a final score of 164 (78-86).

Wellesley will close out its fall season at the NEIGA Championships on October 19-20 at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
