NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field started the indoor season on Saturday at the Mary Grinaker Invitational, hosted by Smith College.
Senior Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.) won the Triple Jump event, breaking the 10m mark with a 10.07m performance. Dickinson and junior Dova Koretsky (Pepperell, Mass.) earned second and fifth in the Long Jump. Dickinson took silver with a distance of 4.79m while Koretsky jumped 4.26m for fifth.Â
In the Shot Put junior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) and first year Maya Sharar (Andover, Mass.) claimed the top two spots. Francis topped the competition with 10.25m and Sharar put up a distance of 9.14m in a collegiate debut. Francis later set a personal record with a distance of 11.83m to win gold in the Weight Throw. Sharar claimed third with a distance of 10.21m.
The Blue's 4x200m Relay team of first year Abigail Choi (Fair Lawn, N.J.), senior Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.), first year Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) and senior Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) won the race with a time of 1:50.20.
Ogah grabbed second in the 60m final, clocking in at 8.21. Fitzgerald was the runner-up in the 400m with a time of 1:04.53. Wolf scored bronze in the 200m with a 28.01 time.
Sophomore Maggie Yan (Montvale, N.J.) ran the 3000m, recording a time of 12:13.62.
Following winter break, Wellesley will compete at the Ramapo Season Opener in Mahwah, N.J. on Friday, January 17, 2025.
