VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Wellesley College track & field sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) placed eighth in her heat of the Indoor Mile prelims at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. 

Whinney finished 18th overall with a time of 5:06.48. WPI senior Grace Hadley (North Reading, Mass.) won the prelims with a time of 4:51.44. Whinney did not advance to Saturday's final.

Next up, the Blue begin outdoor track & field season next Friday, March 15 in Atlanta, Ga. at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
