MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Wellesley College track & field sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) finished fifth in her heat of the 3000m Steeplechase prelims and qualified for the tomorrow evening's 7:00 PM finals at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Championships on Thursday. She finished ninth overall out of 22 competitors.

Whinney's time of 10:37.70 broke her own Blue track & field program record by .27 seconds. Central College junior Megan Johnson (Parkersburg, Iowa) topped the heat with a time of 10:27.46.

The competition is taking place at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium with Coastal Carolina University serving as the host institution.
