Blue Golf in Second after 18 Holes of Polar Bear Shootout

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Wellesley College golf shot 300 as a team on day one of the Polar Bear Shootout, hosted by Bowdoin College at the Par 73 Brunswick G.C. The Blue sit in second out of 13 teams, trailing only Williams College.

Williams is first in the team competition with a score of 289. The Blue sit 11 strokes behind, followed by host Bowdoin (304), Amherst (306), Babson (308), Bates and Middlebury (313), Wesleyan (328), Trinity and Suffolk (341), Hartford (389), Southern Maine (418) and Husson (420).

Williams sophomore Natalie Cheong (Las Vegas, Nev.) led all student-athletes after one day with a 68 (-5).

Sophomore Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) carded a 72 (-1) to earn third place out of 79 total competitors after 18 holes. First year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) shot two over (75) in her inaugural round for the Blue and is tied for eighth in the standings.

Sophomores Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) and Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) both finished in the top 20. Yeh's 76 (+3) tied for 12th while Sun carded a 77 (+4) to sit in a tie for 16th. Sophomore Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) rounded out Wellesley's team with a score of 79 (+6).

Classmate Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) played as an individual and finished with a score of 81 (+8).

Day two of the Polar Bear Shootout commences tomorrow at 9:00 AM.
