WORCESTER, Mass. – Wellesley College swimming & diving began the 2025 portion of its schedule against WPI, Bentley University and Adelphi University on Tuesday. Wellesley defeated Adelphi 177-101 and WPI 149-131, while falling to Bentley 163-133.
First year Samara Burstein (New York, N.Y.) recorded an NCAA Regional Cut in 1-Meter Diving in the 11 dive trial format, putting together a score of 445.49. Burstein also finished third in 1-Meter Diving with a score of 232.95 and later took the bronze with a score of 249.14 in 3-Meter Diving.
The Blue were victorious in the 200 Medley Relay. Juniors Tracey Liu (Princeton, N.J.), Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) and seniors Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.) topped the competition with a final time of 1:51.22.
Sekhon won the 100 Breaststroke, leading the pack with the clock reading 1:07.57. Classmate Lara Dashti (Kuwait City, Kuwait) was just behind in second place with an even time of 1:08.00. Sekhon topped the 200 Breaststroke as well with a time of 2:26.93. Dashti was third in the 200 Breaststroke, swimming a 2:30.15.
Cai championed the 200 Fly by putting up a winning time of 2:10.35. First year Grace Hu (Andover, Mass.) was the runner-up with a time of 2:15.37. Cai collected second in the 200 IM, swimming a 2:15.14.
Junior Emily Richardson (Bedford, N.H.) took the silver in the 500 and 1000 Free with times of 5:34.80 and 11:29.83.Â
Mitsuoka grabbed second in the 50 Free with a time of 25.47, a mere .01 off of the leader. The senior later matched the second place performance in the 100 Free, putting up a 55.37 time.
Liu and first year Lily Fender (Burnsville, N.C.) went 4-5 in the 100 Back with respective times of 1:01.80 and 1:02.01. Fender went on to earn third in the 200 Back, coming in at 2:12.90.
Sophomore Chelsea Park (Long Beach, Calif.) set a personal-best in the 200 Free with a time of 2:12.36.
Wellesley is back in action at the annual Sisters Invitational, hosted by Mount Holyoke College on January 18-19.
