Wellesley Track & Field In Action at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field continued indoor competition at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday.

Junior Claire Peng's (Chapel Hill, N.C.) 3:09.83 time in the 1000m was not only good for seventh out of 22, but also a personal-best time that will qualify Peng for the New England DIII Championships. 

Junior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) set a PR in the Shot Put, throwing for 11.17m to grab seventh out of 30 competitors. In the Weight Throw, Francis finished in the top half in 12th with a distance of 11.50m. First year Maya Sharar (Andover, Mass.) earned 15th by throwing 11.08m.

Senior Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) took ninth out of 27 runners in the 60m prelims with a time of 8.22. Senior Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.) (8.36) and first year Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) (8.44) earned 16th and 17th respectively.

Seniors Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) and Charlie Barron (Chattanooga, Tenn.) went 8-9 out of 20 individuals in the 400m. Fitzgerald was eighth, clocking in at a season-best 1:02.63. Barron captured ninth, hitting the finish line at 1:03.24.

Long Jump senior Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.) recorded a distance of 4.86m to collect eighth place. The senior repeated the eighth place finish in the Triple Jump, hitting a season-high mark of 10.25m.

First year Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) was Wellesley's top performer in the 200m, taking the tenth spot with a 27.23 performance.

First year Leeya Rice (Closter, N.J.) ran a 600m time of 1:49.05. Sophomores Maggie Yan (Montvale, N.J.) (5:57.14) and Perry Huang Kemper (Boise, Idaho) (6:07.83) both competed in the Indoor Mile event.

The Blue will have competitors in Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational and Bowdoin College's Lynn Ruddy Invitational on Saturday, February 15.
