Yeh, Wang Climb Leaderboards as Blue Golf Maintains Third at Jekyll Island Women's College Invitational

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Wellesley College golf went 10 strokes over par (298) on  day two of the 21st annual Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational to maintain third place out of 24 teams. This year's 3-day tournament is being played at the par-72 King and Prince Golf Course. 

Emory University overtook Carnegie Mellon University for first place. Emory sits in first with a team score of 595 after 36-holes, followed by Carnegie Mellon (598) and the Blue (604) in third. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (609) and Rhodes College (627) round out the top five in the 24 team field.

Sophomore Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) started the day with three straight birdies and carried the momentum to a 70 (-2) on the day, going two-under on the out and even on the in. Yeh raced into a tie for second place (146) with the high-level performance.

Sophomore Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) went a stroke under par (71) on Saturday, climbing into a tie with Yeh for second. Wang was consistent throughout, with three birdies and 13 pars on the day.

Sophomore Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) birdied the 18th hole to finish the day seven strokes over par (79). Du's total card of 156 (77-79) places the sophomore in a tie for 30th overall.

First year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) shot a +3 on the out before hitting a 42 (+6) on the in. Boyd's 81 and 78 on day one have the first year tied for 40th place after two days of competition.

Sophomore Grace Sun (San Diego, Calif.) shot 39 on both the front and back nine, totaling four birdies on the day. After 36-holes, Sun sits at 160 (82-78) and is tied for 45th.

The final day of competition takes place tomorrow.

Additionally, the Blue have four members playing at the individual invitational at the Par-72 Indian Mound Course: 

After round two, first-year Sophie Lim (Boston, Mass.) has jolted to the top of the leaderboard with a combined score of +14. Lim posted the best second round score of 76. Sophomore Kaurvaki Bajpai (Chantilly, Va.) is four shots behind Lim with a two-round total of +18. 

Sophomore Sophia Lewis (Ventura, Calif.) moved up four spots on Saturday with the only other sub-80 round of 78. Lewis is tied for fourth at +21. First-year Grace Yuan (Beijing, China) also moved up into sixth place, one shot behind Lewis, at +22 with a solid round of 80 today.
