Several Podium Finishes for Wellesley Track & Field at Carla Coffey Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field saw many top three finishes at the Carla Coffey Invitational at Smith College on Saturday.

In the 100m dash, Senior Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) and first-year Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) earned second and fourth respectively. Ogah placed second with a time of 12.94 while Wolf was fourth, coming in at 13.11. First year Abigail Choi (Fair Lawn, N.J.) was eighth in the dash with a 13.93 performance.

Wolf went on to grab second in the 200m, running the distance in 26.77 seconds. Junior Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.) locked up fifth with a time of 27.62.

In the throws, first year Maya Sharar (Andover, Mass.) was second in the Discus Throw, hitting a season-high mark 34.49m. Junior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) put together a 9.96m throw in the Shot Put to capture fifth. Sharar was seventh with a 9.75m distance and classmate Maggie Berlinger (Ashby, Mass.) grabbed 12th at 8.74m.

Senior Erin Dickinson (Papillion, Neb.) competed in the Triple Jump. Dickinson later placed ninth in the Long Jump, reaching 4.80m. Junior Dova Koretsky (Pepperell, Mass.) was 14th in the event with a distance of 4.28m.

Junior Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished third with a 5:03.66 in the 1500m. Senior Alicia Naranjo-Champion (El Monte, Calif.) had a top-ten finish, taking eighth with a personal-best time of 5:20.27. First year Adelaide Maguire (Oakland, Calif.) (11th - 5:32.51) also raced in the 1500m.

Senior Aoife Fitzgerald (Paxton, Mass.) scored bronze in the 400m, hitting the finish line at 1:03.46.

In the 800m, first year Leeya Rice's (Closter, N.J.) time of 2:34.44 was good for seventh place.

Choi, Ogah, Klingensmith, Wolf competed in the 4x100m Relay, clocking in at 52.48.

Sophomores Maggie Yan (Montvale, N.J.) (21:04.32) and Perry Huang Kemper (Boise, Idaho) (21:39.67) both ran in the 5000m.

Next up, the Blue will host Smith College and Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, April 19 at Butler Stadium and the Throws Field.
