WELLESLEY, Mass. – No. 14 Babson College was a force to be reckoned with in a 25-1 NEWMAC performance against Wellesley College lacrosse to conclude the regular season at Butler Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Beavers (13-2 Overall, 10-0 NEWMAC) saw five goals from graduate student Ellie Hilsabeck (Hingham, Mass.) and senior Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.). Senior Amelia Novitch (Dover, Mass.) added seven points (four goals, three assists) while nine other members of the team scored. Senior Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) won a whopping 20 draw controls while collecting three ground balls. Senior keeper Kathleen Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) and sophomores Morgan McGahan (Ho Ho Kus, N.J.) and Valentina Erigoyen (Miami, Fla.) each registered two saves.
Sophomore Katie McCabe (Jupiter, Fla.) tallied the lone score for the Blue (1-14 Overall, 0-10 NEWMAC) and won a trio of draw controls. First-year goalie Aspen Caudill (Louisville, Ky.) stopped nine shots, including a 100th of the season, and earned four ground balls. Junior Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) made two saves and first-year Elaina Brookhart (Mystic, Conn.) had a stop.
The Beavers scored 11 unanswered goals in the first 10:32 of the game to put the contest out of reach. McCabe retaliated with a goal at the 2:55 mark in the opening frame for the Blue.Â
By halftime, Babson ran its margin up to 20-1, with a well-oiled offense firing on all cylinders.Â
The visitors scored the final five goals of the game over the course of the second half. Babson ended the contest with a 38-10 shot advantage and 22 draw controls.
Babson finished the NEWMAC season undefeated and will now await the playoff schedule to determine its next opponent.
