WORCESTER, Mass. – No. 9 Wellesley College crew sent its top three boats to Petite Finals at the National Invitational Rowing Championship at Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday.

Wellesley's Varsity Eight (V8+) ended up in fourth place in the Petite Final, 10th overall, finishing the afternoon final in 6:48.936. William Smith College won the Petite Final, followed by Skidmore College, WPI, the Blue, Hamilton College and Smith College in that order.

The V8+ boat collected third in its opening round, defeating Hamilton, Coast Guard Academy and Rochester University with a final time of 6:45.545. That performance landed the V8+ in the afternoon's Petite Final.

Blue Crew's Second Varsity Eight (2V8+) scored silver in the afternoon's Petite Final, ending the day in eighth place overall. The 2V8+ hit the finish line at 6:58.656, trailing only William Smith in the Petite Final and ahead of WPI, Ithaca College, Hamilton and Coast Guard.

Earlier, the 2V8+ claimed third in its initial heat, crossing at 7:01.059, ahead of Coast Guard, Conn. College and St. Lawrence University, to earn a place in the Petite Final.

In the Third Varsity Eight (3V8+) event, Wellesley was the runner-up in the Petite Final, eighth overall, clocking in at 7:09.230. Coast Guard won the Petite final race, while the Blue defeated William Smith, WPI and Connecticut College in the event. 

In the initial heat, Blue Crew came in fifth with a time of 7:19.819 and advanced to the Petite Final.

The Fourth Varsity Eight (4V8+) nabbed sixth in its race, putting together a 7:40.108 that put the Blue in front of NEWMAC foe Coast Guard.

Up next, the Blue will race at the 2025 NCAA Championships at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. on May 30-31.
