WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Wellesley College golf finished round one on the River Course and began playing round two on the Plantation Course on Wednesday. Unfortunately, lightning caused play to be suspended and round two will be completed tomorrow.
After the completion of round two, the field will be cut from 34 teams down to the top 15, plus the top six individuals on teams who did not make the cut. Wellesley currently sits in fourth at 23 strokes over par.
Currently, the cut line is projected to be +38, though it will be dependent on the completion of round two on Thursday. Emory leads all teams after 36 holes with a score of 586 (299-287).
Sophomore Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) rose 60 spots on Friday, going four under on the front nine with birdies on the 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th holes. Yeh ended the day at -3 through 13 holes, and as of this writing is tied for 19th out of 176 individuals at +5 overall.
Classmate Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.) was three over on the front before nailing a trio of birdies on the 10th, 11th and 12th. Wang closed the day at +1 after 13 holes and is tied for 12th overall at +3 through 31 holes.
Sophomore Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) went even across 14 holes, collecting three birdies along the way. Du is tied for 19th at +5 this week.
Sophomore Kaurvaki Bajpai (Chantilly, Va.) finished one over on the front nine of round two, with a birdie on seven. Bajpai then had six pars and one bogey before play stopped. The sophomore sits at +2 for the round and +11 overall for the event.
First-year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) sits a +5 for the round after going out in one over with two birdies and is +4 on the back before the stoppage. Boyd is 13 strokes over par overall.
The Blue will complete round two tomorrow at 8:00 AM.
