WENHAM, Mass. – Wellesley College cross country made it two straight victories by finishing first out of 12 teams at Gordon College's 6k Pop Crowell Invite on Saturday.
The Blue had five of the top 12 finishers to finish with a team score of 38, 19 points ahead of second place University of New England. Endicott College earned bronze with 91 points.
Senior
Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) and first-year
Lucy Kontos (Lexington, Mass.) went 2-3 out of 118 total entrants. Brydges finished second at 23:15.20 while Kontos was just behind, crossing at 23:19.50.
Seniors
Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.),
Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) and
Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished 10-11-12 to round out the scorers. Beauchamp clinched 10th with a time of 23:50.11. Whinney placed 11th at 23:58.24. Peng's 24:00.69 performance was good for 12th place.
First-year
Cadence Chang (Boston, Mass.) claimed 13th, hitting the finish line at 24:02.67.
