WORCESTER, Mass. – Wellesley College swimming & diving started the 2026 portion of the schedule by defeating its four opponents at WPI on Tuesday. The Blue topped the Engineers (154-136), as well as Division II opponents Bentley University (180-115), Felician University (190-93) and Adelphi University (212-81). With the win, Wellesley now holds a 9-1 dual meet record for the 2025-26 season.
Wellesley opened the meet by winning the 200 Medley Relay. Seniors Tracey Liu (Princeton, N.J.), Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) and first-years Lucy Choe (Ellicott City, Md.) and Alexis Kung (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) combined for a 1:48.32 time.Â
Kung was the first to hit the wall in the 100 Back race, placing first with a 59.50 performance. Choe (1:01.73) and Liu (1:01.83) came in fourth and fifth in the event respectively.
Kung went on to win the 200 Back with a 2:10.77 mark. Sophomore Lily Fender (Burnsville, N.C.) snagged third with a time of 2:14.00. Kung took silver in the 50 Free, less than .2 off of a season-best with a 25.41 time.
Sekhon added another win in the 100 Breaststroke, recording a 1:06.60 time to lead all competitors. First-year Lana Richard (Oakland, Calif.) swam a 1:08.63 and finished third.Â
Sekhon and Richard went 1-2 in the 200 Breaststroke. Sekhon won at 2:27.59 while Richard was just behind at 2:28.53. Richard was also second in the 200 IM, touching at 2:12.43.
Sophomore Samara Burstein (New York, N.Y.) was the 1-Meter Diving champ with a winning score of 189.95. First-year Vicki Huang (San Diego, Calif.) recorded a personal-best score of 140.45.
Also taking second was first-year Jolyn Zheng (Irvine, Calif.), who swam a 55.94 in the 100 Free. Zheng's time of 2:03.11 in the 200 Free event was good for third.
Choe turned in a second place showing in the 100 Fly race, nearing taking the top spot at 59.50.
First-year Hannah Machleidt (Middleton, Wis.) claimed bronze in the 1000 Free event, clocking in at 11:13.03. Machleidt repeated the result in the 500 Free, this time finishing at 5:29.61.
This weekend the Blue return to action at Chandler Pool when they host the Wellesley Invitational on Saturday, January 17 at 10:30 AM.
