BOSTON, Mass. & BRUNSWICK, Maine – Wellesley College track & field had a full Saturday, with some runners at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational and other team members at Bowdoin College's Lynn Ruddy Invitational. The highlight of the day was senior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) setting a program record in the Weight Throw at Bowdoin.

Sophomore Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) ran a season-best 26.33m in the 200m, earning a New England DIII Championship mark in the process. Senior Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.) crushed a previous PR in the event sprinting to a 26.34 finish and a New England DIII Championship mark.
Senior Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) ran 5:33.88 in the Mile.

Francis was the standout of the day, setting a Blue program record in the Weight Throw with a 14.17m heave. Francis claimed a New England DIII Championship mark in the process. Sophomores Maggie Berlinger (Ashby, Mass.) (12.43m) and Maya Sharar (Andover, Mass.) (11.76m) placed seventh and eighth respectively in the event.
Francis later threw 10.77m in the Shot Put and finished seventh out of 20. Sophomore Maya Sharar (Andover, Mass.) took 10th with a 9.41m mark.
In the Mile, senior Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) notched PR and took second out 20 competitors with a New England DIII Championship qualifying time of 5:20.37. Senior Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) was just behind in fourth place, finishing at 5:21.64 and also capturing both a New England qualifier and personal-best time.
First-year Zoë Cort (San Francisco, Calif.), senior Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) and sophomore Helen Yang (Woodland Hills, Calif.) were the top three finishers in the 3000m. Cort took first at 10:47.97, followed by Beauchamp (10:50.09) and Yang (11:19.55). First-year Dylan Burmeister (Nobleboro, Maine) (12:05.99) captured fifth, while sophomore Addie Maguire (Oakland, Calif.) (12:21.81) and senior Caelan Schretzmayer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) (12:21.98) also competed.
Junior Perry Huang Kemper (Boise, Idaho) was the 5000m's top finisher, completing the race in 19:57.31, a personal-best time. First-year Bela Kumar (Natick, Mass.) earned bronze in the event at 21:08.75.
First-year Sophia Wang (Livingston, N.J.) jumped 1.48m in the High Jump, good for fourth place. Wang later hit a 10.49m mark to repeat the fourth place finish in the Triple Jump. Classmate Christina Yan (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) was 12th in the event, reaching 9.67m while first-year Shriya Kundranda (Scottsdale, Ariz.) jumped 9.47m for 14th.
Yan later ran a 28.49 in the 200m dash to take ninth.
In the 800m, first-year Sophia Trabuco (Rochester, Minn.) ended the race in fifth place, crossing the finish line at 2:31.36.
In the Long Jump, sophomore Abigail Choi (Fair Lawn, N.J.) (4.55m), first-year Shriya Kundranda (Scottsdale, Ariz.) (4.51m) and senior Dova Koretsky (Pepperell, Mass.) (4.31m) all competed for the Blue.
Next up, the Blue will travel to Smith College to compete in the annual Peter de Villiers Cup with the Bears and Mount Holyoke College on Friday, February 20.
