Multiple Personal-Bests Set at New England DIII Track & Field Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field had six different student-athletes compete at the New England DIII Championships on Sunday at the TRACK at New Balance. The team finished in a tie for 30th overall.

Senior Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) set a new PR by over 10 seconds in the 5000m. Brydges ran a 17:44.04, which currently ranks 76th in Division III, to take eighth place out of 23 runners and earned a point for the Blue.

In the High Jump, first-year Sophia Wang (Livingston, N.J.) cleared the bar at 1.58m. Wang finished 11th overall with the height. Wang also competed in the Triple Jump event, taking 14th and reaching 10.63m.

Senior Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) had a season-best time of 5:03.78 in the Mile. Whinney took 12th place out of 22 competitors.

Sophomore Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) set a new personal-best time of 26.03 in the 200m to claim 16th place.

In the Weight Throw, senior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) hit a 13.60m mark, which earned 19th place.

Sophomore Leeya Rice (Closter, N.J.) crossed the finish line at 1:41.87 in the 600m, capturing 19th place in the process.

Senior Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) clocked in at 10:39.00 in the 3000m.

Next up, a few members of the Blue will be competing at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Saturday, March 7.
