POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Wellesley College fencing concluded its season at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Sunday at Vassar College. Both junior Lauren Khoo (San Francisco, Calif.) of foil and sophomore Renee Sun (The Woodlands, Texas) of epee advanced to the semifinals in their respective weapons and had top-20 finishes.

Khoo and first-year Emma Fung (Saratoga, Calif.) were both perfect with a 4-0 initial round performance. This moved Khoo and Fung into the quarterfinals. Sophomore Daisy Wiseman (Austin, Texas) and first-year Viola Qian (Jiangsu, China) had a 2-2 showing in the initial round, and each moved on to the quarterfinals as well.
In the quarterfinals, Khoo's 4-2 results advanced her into the top-21 semifinals. Wiseman grabbed two victories but did not advance, winding up in 22nd place. Fung also won on two occasions without advancing, ending the day at 24th. Quan did not win any quarterfinals matches and claimed 35th place.
Khoo's day came to an end in the semifinals. The junior won two of six bouts, taking out fencers from Yale and Boston College and having a -1 touch ratio. Khoo concluded the competition in 13th place.

Senior Grace Xu (Toronto, Ontario) went 3-1 in the initial round with a +5 touch ratio and advanced to the quarterfinals. Sun swept her initial round competition (4-0) with a +12 touch ratio and moved on to the quarterfinals. Â
In the quarterfinals, Sun put up a 4-2 record with a +2 touch ratio, including a win over Division I Cornell, and moved on to the top-21 semifinals. Xu went 2-4 in the quarterfinal and closed out the day in a tie for 25th place.
Sun had a 1-5 scoreline in six bouts in the semifinals. The win notably came against Division I Yale and Sun had a top-20 finish overall, capturing 19th.
Senior Michelle Pan (Arlington, Mass.) and first-year Elaine Lin (Flushing, N.Y.) both finished the initial round 2-2 and placed 38th and 39th respectively.

First-year Rai Henry (Takoma Park, Md.) had a high enough seed to be exempt from the initial round, earning an automatic quarterfinals spot. Junior Rebecca Hsieh (Annadale, Va.) claimed a 3-1 initial round record and earned a place in the quarterfinals. Â
In the quarterfinals, Henry captured two out of five possible wins with a -3 touch ratio. Henry was the top finisher to not advance to the semifinals and finished in 22th place. Hsieh fell to five opponents and ended the day in 35th place.
Also competing was first-year Lauren Lee (San Diego, Calif.), who won two out of four initial round bouts and ended in 40th place, and first-year Alice Wang (Newport Beach, Calif.), who finished 1-3 in the initial round and placed 42nd overall.
