PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Wellesley College track & field seniors Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) and Ella Whiney (Madison, Wis.) both raced at the Friar Invitational with DI competition at Providence College on Friday.

Whinney came in second place, defeating six Division I opponents, with a 10:48.48 time in the 3000m Steeplechase. The time earned a New England DIII Championship mark, and currently ranks third in NCAA Division III this season.

Brydges put up an 18:13.53 time in the 5000m, to finish ninth.

The team competes tomorrow at Westfield State University's Jerry Gravel Invitational.
