MALDEN, Mass. – No. 4 Wellesley College crew raced against No. 3 Tufts University, No. 8 Bates College and No. 6 Wesleyan University at the Malden River on Saturday.

The Varsity Eight boat opened the day with a victory over Bates. Blue Crew crossed the finish line at 7:53.9, well ahead of the Bobcats (8:05.5). The team subsequently lost to Tufts in the second round. Blue Crew finished at 7:41.7 while the Jumbos crossed at 7:35.4.

The Second Varsity Eight boat fell closely to Bates in the opening round. Wellesley put up an 8:03.4, within five seconds of Bates (7:59.3). The team then fell to Tufts in round two, with Wellesley hitting an 8:13.1 time.

Bates defeated the Third Varsity Eight, with a winning of 8:12.2. The Blue finished with a time of 8:25.3. Wellesley bounced back to defeat Wesleyan in its second round, with a winning time of 8:20.4.

The Varsity Four took second in its initial race with Bates, completing the course at 10:00.6. The V4+ came back in round two with a win over Wesleyan. Blue Crew performed well, dropping seconds off of its initial run with a 9:58.9 final time.

Wellesley returns to action tomorrow at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. to compete in the WPI/Clark Invite at 9:00 AM.
