WORCESTER, Mass. – No. 4 Wellesley College crew  had both of its top two advance to the "A" finals, with the Varsity Eight boat earning third at the WPI/Clark Invite on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday.

The Varsity Eight took second out of four in its initial race, trailing only Bates while defeating WPI and Pacific Lutheran. Blue Crew's time of 7:43 was six seconds off of the lead but over nine seconds in front of WPI. The team advanced to the "A" final, where it claimed bronze at 7:09.5, only a tenth of a second off of second place Bates. Trinity won the event at 7:07.2 while William Smith came in fourth,

Blue Crew's Second Varsity Eight matched the same second of four placement in its opening race, clocking in at 7:31, which was over 20 seconds in front of third place WPI. In the "A" final, the Blue came in fifth place with a 7:45 time, ahead of sixth place WPI and behind Trinity, William Smith, Bates and Hamilton.The Third Varsity Eight boat took silver in a six boat race, behind Bates. Wellesley crossed the finish line at 7:30.6, a mere .8 seconds behind the Bobcats. 

In the Varsity Four competition, the Blue claimed second behind Bates. Wellesley's time of 8:44.2 put the squad in front of Trinity.

Next up, Wellesley races at the annual NEWMAC Championships on Saturday, April 25.
