SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Wellesley College lacrosse ended the regular season with a 21-6 loss to Springfield College at Stagg Field.
The Pride (9-6 Overall, 7-2 NEWMAC) saw four goals, two assists and 10 draw controls from senior Sarah Newton (Colchester, Conn.). Sophomore Cedar Conrad (Amherst, Mass.) stopped four shots on goal while classmate Lindsay Hillemeir (Unionville, Conn.) made five saves.Â
The Blue (4-10 Overall, 2-7 NEWMAC) got a trio of scores from sophomore Charlotte Petersen-Kopman (St. Louis, Mo.). First-year Eliza Wysong (Kansas City, Mo.) won nine draw controls. Senior Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.), sophomores Aspen Caudill (Louisville, Ky.), Elaina Brookhart (Mystic, Conn.) and first-year Scarlett McArthur (Toronto, Ontario) combined for 10 saves.Â
Springfield scored three initial goals before Wellesley rallied to cut it 5-3 by the middle of the first quarter. The Pride ended the first period on a 3-0 swing to be up 8-3 after a frame. Imhof recorded a hat-trick to lead the hosts. Petersen-Kopman scored twice for the Blue while first-year Milica Simic (Park Ridge, Ill.) added a score.
Both teams added a pair of goals in the second quarter to make it 10-5 at halftime. Petersen-Kopman and Simic connected on shots for Wellesley. Newton scored both for the Pride.
The hosts put the game out of reach by scoring eight of nine goals in the third to go up 18-6. The team tacked up on three goals in the final period.
