WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field defended home turf and defeated Mount Holyoke College and Smith College at home in its annual tri-meet at Butler Stadium on Saturday.
The Blue won with 98 team points, 12 ahead of Smith. Mount Holyoke took third with 15.Â
In the 3000m Steeplechase, senior Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) won with an 11:37.34 time that ranks 84th in Division III this year. First-year Sophia Trabuco (Rochester, Minn.) claimed second at 12:21.76.
Senior Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) captured gold in the 1500m, hitting the finish line at 4:52.46. First-year Cadence Chang (Boston, Mass.) snagged bronze with a 5:00.95 time while first-year Zoë Cort (San Francisco, Calif.) clocked in at 5:01.85 for fourth.
Whinney later won the 400m Hurdles with a 1:07.59 winning performance.
Senior Kenya Francis (Atlanta, Ga.) had a season-best distance of 10.63m to take top honors in the Shot Put. Senior Dova Koretsky (Pepperell, Mass.) put up a personal-best result of 8.99m in the event.
Francis also won the Discus Throw, hitting 34.50m. Sophomore Maya Sharar (Andover, Mass.) recorded a second-place performance, throwing for 33.39m.
Francis made it a trifecta of wins, topping Hammer Throw competition at 43.96m. Sharar claimed second place with a distance of 40.14m while sophomore Maggie Berlinger (Ashby, Mass.) had a PR distance of 35.95m.
Senior Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) took third in the 800m, touching the finish line at 2:22.621. Sophomore Leeya Rice (Closter, N.J.) had a personal-best time of 2:24.26, good for fourth place.
Senior Sara Maeve Klingensmith (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was the 400m runner-up, putting together a 1:02.33 performance. Klingensmith later reached a season-long distance of 5.03m in the Long Jump to earn second.
Wellesley had the silver and bronze positions in the 100m. Sophomore Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) was second with a 13.12 time and first-year Christina Yan (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) was a spot behind, coming in at 13.63.
The Blue matched the 2-3 result in the Triple Jump event. First-year Sophia Wang (Livingston, N.J.) jumped 10.28m to get silver and first-year Shriya Kundranda (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was third with a distance of 10.08m.
Sophomore Julia Carmona (Bronx, N.Y.) captured second in the Javelin Throw, reaching a 28.15m mark. First-year Eliza Glick (Dumont, N.J.) was third in the event, hitting a mark of 26.05m.
Whinney and Wang tied for the top performance in the High Jump, reaching a height of 1.47m.
In the 3000m, senior Emily Brydges' (Suffield, Conn.) time of 10:36.12 scored silver. Classmate Elise Lanahan (Greenville, S.C.) ran a personal-best time of 10:55.95 and finished in the third spot.
In the 4x400m Relay, Klingensmith, Whinney, Peng and Wolf finished at 4:08.60, currently 92nd this year in Division III and first in the race.
Klingensmith, Yan, Kundranda and sophomore Ellie Wolf (Irvine, Calif.) teamed up for a time of 52.52 to win the 4x100m Relay.Â
