WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field senior Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) is set to represent the Blue at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships will be held from May 21-23 at the Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wis. The event will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Whinney is set to compete in the 3000m Steeplechase event. Prelims will take place at 7:10 PM ET on Thursday, May 21. The 3000m Steeplechase finals occur on Friday, May 22 at 7:00 PM ET.
Heading into Nationals, Whinney is ranked 11th in Division III in the 3000m Steeplechase. Whinney's time of 10:35.66 was earned at the MIT Final Qualifier yesterday and set a program record.
2026 marks the fourth year in a row that Whinney has competed in the 3000m Steeplechase at Nationals. In 2023, Whinney placed eighth with a time of 10:37.97 and earned All-American honors. In 2024, Whinney finished 10th in the finals with a 10:40.09 performance. Last year, Whinney came in 12th in the event's finals.
