Seven Members of Blue Athletics Claim NEWMAC Honor Cord

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Seven student-athletes from Wellesley College have been named recipients of the newly introduced NEWMAC Honor Cord. 

The honor cord was presented to all seniors of NEWMAC sports with a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher. The navy and silver graduation cord symbolizes the exceptional commitment these student-athletes have demonstrated in balancing the demands of intercollegiate athletics with outstanding academic achievement. The recognition reflects the NEWMAC's commitment to excellence, celebrating those who compete at the highest levels while embracing the rigorous academic missions of its member institutions.

The Wellesley recipients were crew graduate Hannah Bates (Fair Haven, N.J.), cross country/track & field graduates Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) and Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.), lacrosse graduate Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.), soccer graduate Elina Saab-Sundén (Palo Alto, Calif.), swimming & diving graduate Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) and tennis graduate Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.).


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) consists of 12 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Salve Regina University, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
