CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Senior Brie Maurer (Fredericksburg, Va.) and first years Alexia Gilioli (New York, New York) and Isabella Stewart (Scarsdale, N.Y.) each earned bout victories in foil but Harvard University cruised past Wellesley College fencing, 18-9, on Thursday evening at the Malkin Athletic Center.

Wellesley dropped foil, epee, and sabre all by 6-3 scores to the Crimson. Maurer and Gilioli each finished with 1-2 records in three bouts, while Stewart was 1-1. The remaining six bout victories in epee and sabre were each won by default.

The Blue dropped the first three bouts in foil but rallied to make the score 3-2 behind back-to-back wins Stewart and Gilioli. However, Harvard countered with three straight wins to clinch the weapon.

Wellesley returns to action on Tuesday, January 28, at 7:00 PM at Brandeis. The Blue will also face Tufts at Brandeis after tonight's meeting with the Jumbos was rescheduled.
