Dawn Dill was named Assistant Swimming Coach at Wellesley College in January 2019.
Dill was previously the Head Coach at MIT from 2003-2015, where she earned NEWMAC Coach of the Year honors in 2006, 2009, and 2010. While at MIT, Dill led the team to a 152-36 dual meet record, 10 NEWMAC Championship team finishes, and 10 Top-10 team finishes at the NCAA Championships. Dill coached over 100 All-Americans and over 200 Academic All-Americans before stepping away in 2015 to spend more time with her two young children.
Before her time at MIT, Dill coached at Vassar College from 2001-03, spending one season as an assistant coach and one season as the interim Head Coach. Prior to Vassar, Dill served as a graduate assistant coach for the Smith College swimming and diving program from 1999-01. She was also an assistant coach for the University of Massachusetts women’s swimming and water polo teams in 1998-99. Dill received a bachelor’s degree from Smith in 1996 and also earned a Master’s of Science in exercise and sport studies from her alma mater in 2001.
Dill was a seven-time All-American in the 100 and 200 breaststroke while at Smith. The New England Swimmer of the Year in 1996, Dill was a seven-time New England champion in the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke and an eight-time Seven Sisters champion. She was also honored as both an Academic All-American and ECAC Scholar Athlete. She currently resides in Newton.
