  • Wellesley Earns At-Large Bid to 2019 NCAA DIII Volleyball Championship

    Wellesley College volleyball (22-5 overall) has earned an at-large selection to the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship and will play Brockport (19-10) on Friday, November 15, at 5:30 PM in the First Round at the Potsdam, N.Y. Regional, hosted by Clarkson University.

    Junior Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) tallied 16 kills and senior Meghan Shoop (Cypress, Calif.) had a match-high 19 digs as second-seeded Wellesley College volleyball swept past seventh-seeded WPI, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-21), in the quarterfinals of the 2019 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Championship on Tuesday evening at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.
  • No. 2 Wellesley Volleyball to Host No. 7 WPI to Begin NEWMAC Championship

    With the conclusion of a competitive regular season this afternoon, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the 2019 NEWMAC Volleyball Championship bracket on Saturday. Seven teams will be competing for the NEWMAC title with first round matches beginning on Tuesday, November 5th. Wellesley College (21-4, 9-1) secured the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 WPI (14-13, 4-6) on Tuesday, November 5, at 7:00 PM at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

  • Blue Volleyball Tops Roger Williams, Bates to Sweep Hall of Fame Invite

    AMHERST, Mass. -- Wellesley College volleyball opened with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-13) victory over Roger Williams University before earning a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 30-28) to Bates College on day two of the 2019 Hall of Fame Invitational on Saturday at Amherst College’s Le Frak Gymnasium. Wellesley is now 19-3 overall. 
  • Volleyball Rallies For Five-Set Win at Amherst; Gedney Gets 1,000th Career Kill

    Junior Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) surpassed 1,000 career kills and Wellesley College volleyball rallied from a two-sets to none deficit to defeat Amherst College, 3-2 (23-25, 21-25, 25-18, 22-17, 15-13), on Friday night at the Hall of Fame Invitational at Le Frak Gymnasium.

  • Volleyball Celebrates Senior Day with Tri-Match Sweep of Worcester St., FDU

    Wellesley College volleyball cruised to a tri-match sweep of a non-conference Worcester State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University - Florham (FDU) on Saturday at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. The Blue defeated Worcester St., 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-15), and FDU, 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-10). In the second match, Worcester St. defeated FDU, 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19).

    Wellesley College volleyball split a pair of matches on Saturday at the MIT Invitational at Rockwell Cage. The Blue earned a 3-2 win over Endicott College in the team’s opening match before dropping a 3-1 decision to Tufts University later in the afternoon. Wellesley is now 5-3 overall.

  • Wellesley Receives Tara VanDerveer Fund for the Advancement of Women in Coaching Grant from The Women’s Sports Foundation

    Wellesley College announced today it received a Tara VanDerveer Fund for the Advancement of Women in Coaching grant from the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF). Grants were awarded to institutions to support collegiate female coaches on the rise, assisting with living expenses, professional development and mentorship. Wellesley is one of 10 universities and colleges to receive the grant, which will be designated for a female coaching fellow in women’s sports as diverse as field hockey, wrestling, basketball, volleyball, softball and strength and conditioning.
