The Blue picked up a win in epee, but Brandeis got victories in
both sabre and foil to take the match 18-9.
In sabre, Brandeis won the first eight bouts in an 8-1
win. Anna Hanley (Medford, MA) and Alex Turner (Lebanon, NJ)
each went 2-0, while Zoe Messinert (Short Hills, NJ) posted a 2-1
record for the Judges. Elizabeth Rowen
(Santa Cruz, CA) picked up the lone victory for Wellesley.
The teams split the first two bouts in foil, but then Brandeis
took over to record a 7-2 victory. Vicktoria Nunley (Glen
Gardner, NJ) and Julia Mouk (Rocky Point, NY) were both undefeated
for the Judges, with Nunley going 3-0 and Mouk, 2-0.
Wellesley picked up wins from Hannah Braaten
(Concord, MA) and Wendy Chin (New York, NY).
Wellesley took the epee competition, 6-3, as Ashley
Paquin (Cumberland, RI) went 3-0, while Annemarie
Kocab (Farmington Hills, MA) went 2-1. Brandeis got
one win each from Emma Larkin (Montclair, NJ), Sydney Reuben
(Rolling Hills, CA) and Adrienne Katz (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) to wrap
up the match.
Wellesley fencing returns to action on January 30th, hosting
UMass and Smith at the Wellesley Invitational beginning at
9:00am. Brandeis co-hosts the Brandeis/MIT Invitational, also
on Saturday at 9:00am.
