NORTHAMPTON, MA – Despite a come-from-behind opening set
win, Wellesley College fell to a strong Amherst squad 3-1 (27-25,
25-15, 25-15, 25-16) at Smith College Friday night in the first
round of the Hall of Fame Tournament. Amherst climbs to 19-1
on the season, while the Blue drop to 15-6.
The Blue were led by Isabel Custodio and
Taylor King, with seven kills each, while
Kellyn O'Brady and Elizabeth
Campbell added five a piece. Defensively,
Traci Hamanaka tallied 17 digs and King chipped in
five blocks. Victoria Peng dished out 20
assists in the loss.
Wellesley returns to action on Saturday at 10:00am against the
loser of the Springfield vs. Bowdoin match.
